5 TIPS ON NEGOTIATING THE SALE OF YOUR HOME

1. NEGOTIATING
Just remember that even the most skilled and experienced negotiators will feel discomfort when negotiating. The only difference is a skilled negotiator has learned to recognize, and suppress the outward signs of these feelings. Try to remember when negotiating, always keep an open mind.

2. ESTABLISH A SELLING PRICE
Your home is what the market sets the price at, not a seller’s expectations. So be realistic you have to know that your house is worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it.
3. GET COMPARABLES
Asking for comparables from your agent is one of step to make sure that you know what other homes are selling for in your neighbourhood. This is important information that a buyer is going to have when they are prepared to make an offer on your home
4. DECIDE ON YOUR BOTTOM LINE
It is best to set a bottom line right from the very beginning. In financial terms, this is the lowest amount or cheapest price you will accept in the deal. Working with your agent on this number by setting a target deal in writing will help him/her know where you stand. Be sure to set a specific date for a price reduction so you can reactivate the enthusiasm for your home.
5. NEVER FEEL RUSHED.
Don’t be insulted by low ball offers, sometimes sellers will be tempted to discount these offers right away. Buyers like to negotiate, they want to feel like they are getting a good deal.
So sometimes it takes a little time before buyers and sellers can come together in an agreement.
Be patient, sometimes it takes buyers and sellers a lot of back and forth in negotiating before they actually come together and settle on a price.
People tend to get very emotional, the worst thing you could do is say no to a low ball offer and not even respond and then try to get back to those buyers at a later date.
Why Hiring an Agent to Sell your House?
Real estate agents are trained under a rigorous program, they have the necessary skills to easily guide you through each of the steps. Their knowledge of the market and experience with the art of evaluating and negotiating, makes the agent the ideal partner to represent you in the selling of your house.
